Salam-a-deiki (Bless your hands)

This piece is dedicated to the Palestinian women who embroidered their wedding dresses and opened their homes to me in 1980, giving me a glimpse of their culture in Bir Zeit and Ramallah. Each stitch is a prayer that peace may be achieved in their land.

The bird of hope* carries an olive branch from one people to another, asking that a healing love replace confrontation and animosity; asking for wounded spirits to be healed by consideration; that room in a fractured heart be found for all.
